asian pillows part deux

asiancabin.jpg

I swear this isn't going to be a blog about Asian pillows. I swear.

But the scraps, they are there. And the pillow, it must be made.

If you have a mind like mine, and I believe some of you do, you may recognize some of the following Angela-esque qualities:

1. Thinking about your projects in the middle of the night

2. Believing that sorting your scraps sounds like a peaceful way to spend your afternoon

3. Finding all the things that you can do with 1.5" wide strips of fabric "fun"

4. Asking your husband to do the hand-sewing

There are a lot more, but it might start to make you rethink your visits here, so I'll stop there.

This pillow popped out in a couple of hours Sunday afternoon while the husband built an airplane (before he got to the sewing) and the kids were resting. It's now residing in my etsy store.

Bless you kind person who bought my big ass Geisha pillow whoever you may be!

That is an awesome pillow. If you didn't say you were using up scraps, people would think you designed it just that way. Wow -- love the striped blocks offset with the cabin blocks.

You're on a roll with these beauties. I think you should stop buying those nasty big YARDS of fabric and just buy 1.5 inch strips. xox Kay

I'm a dude and I love both of those pillows.

Yes, I had Seth cut out and draw the face for a little crocheted monkey on the weekend. He refuses to learn to knit (I think this is wise, probably) but is very handy for certain other tasks. And I've been very nesty about the yarn room lately. We even braved IKEA yesterday in an attempt to get the good table into the front room for sewing (not yet. It got cleaned off and recluttered with bike stuff all in the same evening.).

I keep tuning in, expecting to see miles of black stockinette, and instead I see gorgeous pillows! Wow! (Not that I don't love the stockinette, or anything.)

OOOOOOOH!
Tres chic!

Makes me covet my MIL's sewing machine....

I've been thinking about trying a quilt made of ties from a loved one... maybe a pillow would be a good start...

Very nice, and compliments to the spousal-unit on the hand-sewing. My FIL does that on the quilts co-made by my fab-o in-laws.

That is one gorgeous pillow. I was wondering what kind of sewing machine you use - your quilting/topstitching stitch is so perfect looking. Or are you quilting the pillows by hand? Thanks!

Um. I'm concerned. What happened to This Week We Are Lovin'? And the other thing where you gave the coolest links? Hmmm?

I must know what we are lovin' this week. xox Kay

the pillows are really great! i'm glad they are selling, and not surprised at all.

isn't it ironic--you're sewing, and i'm knitting. the world is a circle after all.

Were we separated at birth? Nah, you are much younger, but I know I have had those thoughts before.
