The husband is out of town and so I have decided that the theme for the week will be "Mine All Mine." That is when I am not taking care of the 2 children and 2 dogs who also live here.
First up in Mine All Mine Week is a lovely square tote. And when I mean square, I mean square as in 4 equal sides. It's some very purty oilcloth and I have kept it for my very own. It's big and airy and easy to find things in and my knitting is in it as we speak. I have successfully made myself something.
Next, I have selfishly begun making myself a lovely cabled cap out of some Euroflax linen in Moss. I bought it for Angel's birthday last year but could never find "the thing" to make and it has languished in my stash box for almost a year finally finding its ultimate home on my head (sooner or later). If you haven't ever tried it, I highly recommend grabbing some. It's stiff at first, but softens as you work with it. It's got some good texture and is really fun to knit with. It also holds a pattern beautifully and the cables look hot as hell.
Winding up my week of self-centeredness is a quilt! A scrap quilt made with remnants of Amy Butler fabrics past. Yellows, oranges, blues, greens, rose. It's my own made up pattern so we'll see how it looks. It's a stripey thing. I can't figure what to back it with. Still thinking. Suggestions welcome.
And so at the end of Mine All Mine Week I will have at the very least something to carry things in, something to keep my feet warm, and a styley hat. I've had so much fun this week that I may begin naming all weeks.
xo
P.S. Just to show you how wonderfully versatile my husband is - he sewed button eyes on 15 bunny puppets for the three year old's preschool class.... while watching Metallica: Some Kind of Monster. A Renaissance guy.

Happy Mine All Mine Week. xoxo Kay

Posted by: melanie at February 24, 2005 09:49 PMwe need to see pics of the square bag. and of the quilt and hat in progress. and the bunny puppet on the right looks like a kitty cat but they are downright adorable. what a good man you have!
Posted by: amanda at February 25, 2005 12:20 PMwell i don't care whether you call them bunnies or piggies or fruit bats, they are cute and the kids will love them! it has never occurred to me to ask rudi to sew anything, not even a button, i like handwork too much to share with anybody else.
